Experiment #1 of many:
Now I’m not saying this is good (because it’s not meant to be), but in my noodling around last night with sumi ink and pencil, this is what developed. Definitely a sketch, but there’s an inkling of the looseness I’m looking for. I’ve got an illustration to work on for Kevin Dart now, and I think I’ll use this as a starting point to explore further.

Continued evolutions:
Bearing in mind my sleep schedule’s pretty messed up right now, it should be no surprise that the first half of this week has left me grumbling and stressed out. Thankfully a dose of sleep will improve things, but usually these things go hand in hand with the continual evolution of my work. It’s like an unwanted visitor sometimes, where I’m just trying to shoo it away and focus...
Deep in the middle of a project, reminded how much I enjoy limited palettes. Kind of made a faux overprinting effect in the process…gonna be a long night, however. Wish me luck!

Portland folk— are you busy tonight? You should pencil in a trip to Land Gallery tonight— there is an awesome show opening at 6pm. Boomshakalaka! is a show devoted to the Trail Blazers curated by Clifton Burt. It’s a lot of fun and I will be there ogling all the work! I also contributed a piece, which is pretty funny as I don’t really follow sports at all and haven’t...
Remember these lovely little notebooks? Well, I just got another box filled with them in the mail and am quite happy to put them up for sale in the shop. Hopefully I’ll get more soon, but you may want to hurry as I suspect they’ll sell fast!
I’m in the middle of working on illustrations for a book; while I won’t be able to show you the finals for a while, I can’t resist sharing a few snippets of lineart. This is brush & ink, along with some watersoluable graphite. Oh and the white parts on black are using a Masquepen, which is so fun to use and lose control with. Can’t wait to share more!

Hello risk.
This year has started out really interestingly. The good: I think I’m at a point where I can stop questioning my process and start questioning my mindset/process/whathaveyou.
