I was invited by WeMake to design a birdhouse for their upcoming art auction Put a Bird in It. I decided to do something totally out of my comfort zone and sculpt a clay dome. Lots of cuts, blisters, three pounds of clay, and layers of paint and wool and stain later, this birdhouse emerged. Finally! Sculpting is not in my wheelhouse but it really makes me want to get better and do more 3D stuff. So I might just go take a wood class or fiddle some more with clay sometime in the future…

The auction will be held during Portland Design Week this year- Friday October 12, 2012 from 5:30-9:00pm at Union Pine here in town. Stop by and help raise money for arts in our public schools!

Now back to drawing— I’ve missed it all week!
