Been meaning to write up an official blog post about this and it’s only two weeks away, so here goes!

Back on a cold December evening surrounded by friends, my best friend proposed to me after more than a decade of courtship, much of that long distance. A night or two later I thought about a brilliant idea: what if we celebrate this union with art, closing the long-distance gap for good with an explosion of talent and beauty? So I set out contacting all the many artists I’ve been fortunate to know and count as friends, both near and far. I asked them the sweetest favor I could: would you create a piece of art to celebrate with us, even if you can’t be there in person? Wonderfully, dozens of them wrote back and said wholeheartedly yes!

Join Together is a product of friendships gathered over the years, from old friends from college to creatives I admire all over the world, from students and professionals, designers and illustrators and artists alike. More than that, it is an ode to love and building a life together. The work on display will be brought into our future home together to remind us of love in all its many facets for years to come.

If you’re in the Portland area, please stop by at Land to celebrate with us on August 9th. It’ll be like a reception for us— we’ll have a photobooth wall perfect for Instagram or tweeting (#jointogetherpdx), tasty treats, good tunes, and of course a ton of art!

Artists include Kate Bingaman Burt, Julia Rothman, John Martz, Ping Zhu, Jared Andrew Schorr, Andrew Kolb, Phil McAndrew, Chuck Groenink, Andrea Kalfas, Will Bryant, BT Livermore…. the list goes on and on. I’ll publish the full list next week as the final pieces arrive!

Join Together runs August 9- September 1 at Land, 3925 N. Mississippi Ave., Portland, Or. Been meaning to write up an official blog post about this and it’s only two weeks away, so here goes!
