Winner winner, chicken dinner!

Thanks everybody who entered my giveaway! The lucky winners are:

Emily Skaer and moreteawesley!

I’ll be emailing you both soon. Keep your eyes peeled for future giveaways; I might be giving away that owl print sometime after TCAF!

I got some copies of books I’ve done recently in the mail, so I’m hosting a little giveaway! Two lucky winners will get a package with Barnheart (whose cover I illustrated) and the Mark Twain story I got to illustrate for Scout Books!
Rules: comment on this post using a valid email address between now and Friday at noon Pacific. I’ll pick the winners out of a hat and announce later that afternoon!

Oh PS: the giveaway! I nearly forgot. Picking random names… the winners are:

kissakerho, epochandphase, and sblack!

Winners, please shoot me an email with the address to mail to. I’ll try and contact you too, but Tumblr’s kinda weird sometimes with that info!

And if you didn’t win but you really have your hearts set on a copy, I’ve got plenty. Thanks everyone for entering and have a lovely weekend! It’s back to mad dash studio work for me.

Happy Sunday! I’ve decided to throw a little giveaway for my Tumblr readers (it’s been a while since I’ve done a giveaway). It’s pretty easy. Just like or reblog this post (one reblog per person please, keep it fair) and I’ll pick 3 names at random on Friday. You’ll each get a copy of The Gatherers screenprint!
Be sure to keep your eye here on Friday for the announcement!

Oof, I’ve been so lax in writing. I’ve had things to say, too. But anyway I’m back now, right before the holidays and writing up my New Year’s resolutions a little ahead of time. Documenting more is definitely on there. But before the new year hits, we have a few weeks and it’s holiday time, so why not do a little gifty giveaway? See, I just got my Wonderland notebooks from Monoblock in, and among them is a super-nice planner for 2011!

This little beauty is 6x8.25”, spiral bound and comes with its own elastic strap and  bookmark (which doubles as a metric ruler on the back). The cover is a wraparound scene of Wonderland with spot gloss detailing, and inside has a lovely pattern and view of little Alice too! (It looks so many times prettier in person— the dark Portland days are rearing their heads)  The interiors have spaces for to-do lists, addresses, and enough room to plan the next year out in style!

Here’s all you have to do: Tumblr friends, like or reblog this (only once, please). Other friends: write in the comments (be sure to leave an email address so I can get ahold of you!)! I have a few copies of the perfect bound journals too, so I’m debating doing a Twitter-only giveaway for New Year’s for that one too. I will draw the winner at random this Friday morning and share the results around 10am PST, so get your entries in by Thursday night!

Flying Pig Marathon poster + giveaway!

This year I was selected to be the poster artist for the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon, one of the biggest in the country. Every year they produce a 20x30” poster to be given to the participants of the race. Thanks to the Marathon for letting me participate in a fun piece of history and work in a much bigger scale than I usually get to!

The design was 20x30”— which is more than double the size that I typically work! I wanted to evoke old travel posters and share some of the grandeur and fun of the event.

The poster printed— the photo isn’t doing it justice, but I don’t have a better setup or another pair of hands to hold it!

Close up on some of the detail. My camera is showing grain, but there’s really not much texture in this piece.

So, I received a large number of these to sign and give back to select runners, but it just so happens I have a few left over. I have four glossy 20x30” posters that I would like to giveaway to people— so all you have to do is comment here (with a valid email address) and answer the following question— if you could see my work being used for any project/company/application, what would it be? Basically I’m trying to grow my career, and while I want to do a lot of things I’m also curious where others think my work fits and where they would love to see it in the future (both as client work and self-driven projects). Housewares? Children’s books? To me the sky’s the limit, but your help will be so appreciated!

I will pick four winners on Monday, so get your comments in before the weekend’s up! (And please share/reblog/RT this giveaway, I’m hoping to get a lot of response to this question!) Hope you enjoy!
